MY STORY

I personally was involved in my own complex, high asset divorce with young children.

With all of the shock, confusion, sadness and urgency that comes with legal action, I learned that building a support system quickly was key to moving through the process as efficiently as possible. With so much coming at me so quickly, I didn’t realize that legally divorcing and financially settling the marital estate were two completely separate activities.

The experience of lawyers, judges, opposing attorneys and co-parenting overwhelmed me to the point that I lost focus on the financial portion of the divorce process.

I was blessed with an exceptionally gifted family law attorney who represented me valiantly, but in hindsight, I needed a financial professional to help me focus and understand the financial decisions that lay in front of me.

My experience is now 20 years old and the complexity of marital estates has increased exponentially. Today, I’d be retaining a divorce financial specialist before an attorney – it’s that important.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

I am using my vast financial and business experiences to build a business that supports the idea that families can survive the divorce process and come out on the other side as a family that retains its financial security, dignity, and respect for each other.

I was born and raised in a large Midwestern family. My parents set high academic expectations for all of their children and always worked hard to preserve our love of family and the power we had as a whole unit. My family now consists of successful financial professionals, medical professionals, and design professionals.

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Finance, I began my professional corporate career as an internal auditor and project manager/director.

Later, I joined a major strategic consulting firm as the head of the practice management team and started a software company that was later sold.

After focusing on raising my children, I founded a second business that develops financial control and reporting systems for non-profit organizations.

Before founding Financial Divorce Deigns, I was part of a boutique family law firm that specializes in high asset, complex divorce cases in Northern California. I supported and studied 100’s of cases and developed a deep understanding of the legal process, the financial process, the emotional process of divorce actions on families.
